The Pan American League of Associations For Rheumatology (PANLAR) and
Abbott Laboratories invite Latin American Rheumatologists to present research propolsas in the clinical or basic sciences fields.

RequirementsThe applicants may have until 45 years of age, and shall live and work in a Latin American country. The proposals, aimed to the development of a scientific study, may be presented in two categories: clinical or basic sciences. All documentation must be sent in English language.
The complete application shall be judged in terms of:
- Currículum Vitae or brief biography (maximum 4 pages)
- Letters of support (2)
- Personal statement
- Research work achieved (maximum 2 pages)
- Work to be achieved according to the following format (maximum 10 pages, excluding references):
- Specific goals
- Background and meaning
- Preliminary work (pertinent to the proposed study)
- Study design (methods, anticipated results, limitations, chronology)

galarcon@uab.eduEvaluationApplications will be evaluated by a team of seven judges from countries that are part of PANLAR. The final ranking shall be based in a system of scoring previously agreed.
A participant in each category will be chosen: clinical or basic sciences. However, the jury may declare the award not to be granted in any of them, if it considers that none of the presented proposals is worth the award.
Award Grant 2010An award of USD 7,500 will be granted to the winner in each category, with the purpose of supporting the development of the proposed study.
The winner or winners will be announced on October 1, 2010. The award will be granted during the Congress of the
American Collegue of Rheumatology (ACR), to be held in Nov. 6-11, 2010, in Atlanta, Georgia, United States.
